Steve Chapman was my cousin from Perry, Ohio. We grew up in together in Ohio and then reconnected later on in Los Angeles. I moved to Los Angeles for a job and Steve was there playing his music. We use to hang out at the beaches, play guitar and have fun. Steve was a vocalist, song writer/guitarist, who played in local clubs and coffee houses to promote his music. I had an old cassette tape of Steve's songs that you can hear below. The sound quality is not too good, but I think you can still enjoy his music. The first song, "Heart of Laughter", pretty much sums up Steve as a person. He was always upbeat, laughing and full of life. Steve passed away on May 7, 1990, near Muskogee, Oklahoma. He had a motorcycle accident a few years earlier and suffered serious head injuries. Some suspect, the accident may have contributed to his untimely death, but we'll never know for sure.
